using my new camera & a Mad Men themed New Years Eve party!

I am still in shock that my wonderful hubby bought me a Nikon D3100 dSLR camera for Christmas!

On Christmas afternoon we took a walk on the beach so I could try out my new baby. {yes, you can safely assume that this camera will be referred to as my baby for the foreseeable future!}

I did not edit any of these photos. I have taken my old point and shoot to the beach many a times and never have I pictures turned out like these did.

I by no means think these are the most magnificent photos ever but they are a great start. I can't wait to keep playing with my camera.

The week between Christmas and New Years seems to disappear in the blink of an eye.

We are having a little NYE get together at our house. {This year we have hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas and now New Years, just call me the hostess with the mostess}

I decided it might be fun to do a little Mad Men themed NYE party. I am not going all out and buying tons of stuff but I think dressing the part and having things like a bar cart set up will be tons of fun.

In a perfect world I would have found a dress like this for super cheap! but alas, that is not the case. I do have a cute lace pencil skirt and sparkly cardigan in my closet and I think that will pearls will do just fine.

I have a few days to work some magic, and I am a former event planner so I should be able to put together a little somethin' somethin'.
