I've been pretty lucky, it hasn't been too cold here in Minnesota. The high each day has been what the lows have been for us at Point Mugu. I am just glad it isn't like last year with 30 inches of snow and below zero temps!

Today my sis, BIL, newphew and brother arrive. All we are missing is my favorite person, the hubby and our fur baby khloe!

Hello lovelies, it has been a whirlwind of madness at the hatzung household...i'll share more on that in the next few weeks.

Right now I am visiting my parents in Minnesota and am happy to report I am not freezing my butt off!

You may remember one of my goals in 2012 is to spend less money on fivoulous items. There are many pieces of clothing that I want to buy but I just can't justify it. I plan to do a little bit of shopping before I go out and see Scott graduate OCS in the spring so until then I do not need to buy new clothes.

To help curb my spending but still feed my fashion addiction I have taken to pinterest.

I seriously love a great dress or skirt combo. I pretty much wear them all summer long, as well as many spring days with boots and or a cute sweater.

20 things to do while the hubs is away

Happy Friday Eve loves!

Last night I was hit with some funky germs, but after some vitamin C, cold meds, water and sleep I am feeling better. Which is fantastic because I have a crap ton of stuff to do before I leave for Minnesota on Sunday!

Since Scott is gone for about 12 weeks I thought it would be good to make a list of things I want to do while he is gone. You know, a way to pass the time and have something to show for it. I am a list maker by nature so anytime I get to grab pen and paper and go at it I'm game! {I've totally inherited this from my mom, growing up she always made lists}.

Hi friends! It's Wednesday, so you know what that means, time to post my outfits.

I have a few confessions this week:

my photos are horrible! my photographer/husband left early last thursday morning so now I'm on my own. I have to get better and the pictures with my timer.

my second confession is my outfits this week suck! I have been wearing comfy clothes since the hubs left. I am not wearing sweats all day, but comfy hoodies and jeans are my go to as of late.

I hope to have some better pics in the next few posts as I'll be in Minnesota with my family so I'll have someone to take the pics for me!

Remember how I said we had a photo shoot in early December in our cute small town downtown area? We took Khloe along for the photo shoot as well. She was having so much fun hamming it up for the camera!

She was not going to look at the camera for this pose. She could see too many people walking the on the street and she just had to be in the know.

I love this pic of all of us! We were talking to khlo-belle and she looked up at us. She is such a sweetie, we love her so.

How adorable is this pic of Scott and Khloe?? This totally captures the love the two of them have. Scott is such a sucker for her. He cannot be home without her in his lap or playing around. I need to frame this photo and put it on my night stand.

It is cold and rainy here and I love it!

Over the weekend I pinned a bunch of cute spring outfits.

I am still loving the cold but I am looking forward to my trip to the east coast this spring to see my bff and to see the hubby graduate OCS!

Because I am always thinking about clothes and outfits it only seems appropriate to start brainstorming ideas! Ideally I'd like to have about 5 outfits that I can mix and match for a week long plus trip. I'd also like to buy only a few new pieces.

It has been 5 years since we've dealt with a deployment like situation, so saying goodbye yesterday morning was a bucket of emotions.

He isn't deploying, but instead going to 12 weeks of training at officer candidate school. So the plus is he will not be in harms way and he will not be gone for 6-9 months. The first half of the training I don't really expect to hear from him other than a few notes here and there via snail mail.

He has done many random 1-3 week out of town training over the last two years so I don't think it will really kick in until about week 3, and at that point we will be a fourth of the way done!

What is really scaring me is all the change that will occur in our life after his commissioning to a Naval Officer.

It will be a whole new world, a part of the military that I do not feel knowledgeable in.

New type of command. I'm a ship/submarine gal, squadron duty will be a whole new can of worms for me.

New customs and traditions.

The inevitable "someone thinks I'm a snob because I'm an officers wife".

There are of course many wonderful benefits that come with this type of promotion:

Totally different pay structure

A smaller community which usually also means a better quality of life.

And best of all the hubby is living out his dream!

It is strange to think that the next time I see my husband he will days away from becoming a commissioned officer.

One thing that I am sad about is no longer seeing my man in these uniforms

Wow, I can't believe it is already mid January, time is flying by!

The hubs leaves in two days! I am thinking I might do a last minute early valentine's day celebration this Wednesday night before he leaves.

I am not sure how much I'll decorate the house this year year. {I've never really decorated for V-day}. I will however be stocking up after Feb. 14th for goodies for next year.

I am loving the red and pink color combo so much right now. I might have to do just a few things to pretty up the house.

A few fun facts:

Scott and I got married 5 weeks after we got engaged.

We were married at the San Diego court house on April 16, 2009.

I quit my job and moved up to Ventura, CA {where Scott was stationed} on April 29th, 2009.

We never took engagement photos because we were saving for our big wedding in June of 2010. {and DUH! we were engaged for like 2.5 seconds}

We have tons of wedding pics hung up around the house, but nothing fun and casual.

I have really wanted to take family pictures and convincing Scott has really taken some time.

We have had so many amazing things happen to us while being stationed here, I wanted to make sure we had wall worthy pictures of our time here. I think I am going to make it a rule that we get at least one set of professional family pictures taken at each duty station.

In early December we headed to downtown Ventura to have some fun family pictures taken around town.

I love that all of these photos were taking in random alleys and the side of building in our downtown area.

Hello friends! Last week was a little staycation with the hubs. We went down to LA, up to SB and then down to SD for the weekend!

Tuesday:

We travelled down the 101/405 to go to the Getty Museum. We've had that on our list to do for 4 years. Finally got around to going. It was a gorgeous day and the paintings were beautiful.

This was by far the most gorgeous day we have had in a long time {including last summer}! It was not too hot, not too cold and just a light breeze. We walked the pier, sat and had a long talk about 2012, our goals and plans.

Mad Men themed New Years Eve Party

This year was the first time we've done anything fun on NYE in a looooooooooooong time. We hosted a NYE party with the fab Mad Men theme.

I had so much coming up with an outfit and finding fun vintage decor at the thrift stores and then decorating the house.

We had about 18 adults and kids at the party and everyone dressed it, it was so much fun!

Here is the set up, I needed place all the dishes out and label what would be on them so I could make room for everything.

the guys trying to be cool and hip. how can you be cool and hip when you look like you coordinated your outfits? Seriously, black tie, white shirt and black pants was the men's theme.

the guys were so hilarious with their fake cigs and real drinks. I just started snapping pics of them trying to get it together for a good pic. they were entertaining to say the least. topics included: skinny jeans, the bieber, anderson cooper and lord knows what else.

Since I quit my event planning job in July this is the first party I have planned. I loooooove planning parties so much! I would throw a themed party every month is we had an money tree in our back yard!

a simple letter

A week before Christmas I received an order for a yellow rosette necklace. I wasn't able to get it in the mail when I had planned so I up'd the shipping to 2-3 day priority {gotta love the flat rate $5 boxes} and added a fun little surprise to the order.

fast forward to this Wednesday and I received the sweetest note in the mail

I am not going to share all the details because it is personal, but the reason for her buying the necklace was to be a gift for a friend who had suffered a loss. I am so honored to know that my necklace will be a remembrance of a loved one for someone.

The little surprise was a pair of rosette earrings. The buyer kept them and said that she too had lost a loved one. They would be a reminder to her as well.

Reading the note brought a few tears to my eyes.

Knowing that someone saw my necklace and thought it was the perfect little gift to give to a friend as a happy reminder melts my heart.

It melts my heart even more to have received such a wonderful little note.

This note will always be cherished.

Went to brunch with the Wallaces. Last year Liz and I went to brunch on new years day so we did it again this year. Sad to say we went to the same place and the service was so bad I will never go back again and I did not leave a tip! {I have never not left a tip} the waiter just stood at our table when we got there, no specials, just waiting for us to give him our drink order. He stared off into space and got distracted half way through our food order. I had to ask for things I ordered multiple times, and Liz was given a piece of toast that was the color of asphalt. the icing on the cake was: we put two cards in the bill folder and to split breakfast, the guy ran my card twice! If Liz wouldn't have caught it I would have gone home to later find a fun fiasco to fix {say that 5 times fast!}. The waitress at the table next to us was amazing and we got worlds worst waiter. My tip to him was get it together or find a new job!

2012 will bring many changes to the Hatzung household. Scott leaves for OCS in less than 3 weeks. He graduates right around my 29th birthday and our 3 year wedding anniversary. Come April change will be happening almost daily. We will be PCSing at some point around June, an exact date or location will not be given to us until right before his graduation. {it isn't top secret or anything, that is just how it works for OCS}

I want to look at everything as a new adventure and try and see something positive in everything. I often times feel like I get so worked up about things and how they could turn out instead of just going with it and seeing what God has planned for us.

I have read a lot of blog posts about picking a word for the year, I too am going to pick a word.

For 2012 my word is going to be faith. I think it encompasses all the goals I have for 2012. I need to have faith in myself to accomplish my goals.

The most obvious is faith in the Lord. I want my walk with Christ to grow. I need to put all my trust in him and know that whatever is going on in our lives is a part of his plan.

I might not see his reasoning right now but in the end I know I will. Putting all my trust and faith in the lord is the only way I can accomplish any goal that I have for 2012.

I want to spend less money on frivolous {read: almost everything I buy} things this year. I need to shop less, buy less and want less. I have everything I could possibly need. I do not need more. There are a few things I have in mind to do to make this a reality. I need to challenge myself and keep my wallet in the freezer.

My blog and my shop have grown so much over the last year. I really need to look at both as a real business. Not just a hobby but really pay attention and be intentional with both.

As for my etsy shop I need to get a real accounting system in place. I need to know every penny going in and going out.

I want to be more organized in my blog posts, I have so many things I want share but I get overwhelmed. I need to make a blog post calendar so I know what I have planned and can get posts written in advance.

A goal I have that is specifically for the first part of 2012 is to get our home more organized and purge things we do not need. I want to unpack boxes after our move that have already been purged.

Today I am also getting back on the weight watchers wagon. I felt so much better when I was thoughtfully planning meals that were healthy. It really is so easy once you get back into the routine. I need to make it a part of my life for ever, not just for a few months.

I cannot believe we are now in the year twenty twelve, so crazy! Time seriously flies.

Last night we rang in the new year with a very fun Mad Men themed party. Here is a sneak peak of the fun blog post to come.

It is hard to believe the hubs leaves for OCS in a little less than 3 weeks. Once he leaves the life we currently know will change forever. Totally exciting yet totally nerve racking!

I am still in shock that my wonderful hubby bought me a Nikon D3100 dSLR camera for Christmas!

On Christmas afternoon we took a walk on the beach so I could try out my new baby. {yes, you can safely assume that this camera will be referred to as my baby for the foreseeable future!}

The week between Christmas and New Years seems to disappear in the blink of an eye.

We are having a little NYE get together at our house. {This year we have hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas and now New Years, just call me the hostess with the mostess}

our Christmas 2011 weekend of fun!

It is hard to believe Christmas has come and gone.

I always get so sad the day after Christmas, 5 weeks of planning, decorating and waiting for the day and then BAM! it is over!

While we did not end up going to see my parents for Christmas as planned we were still around family.

I spent the the 21st and 22nd running around, getting the house stocked for 3 house guests and then cleaning it. I was also a baking and cooking fool this past week.

My brother was able to come up from the 22-24 and we had lots of fun. Lots of home cooked meals for him, a brunch trip, a bit of Target fun {we always have to stop at Target}, walking around Christmas tree lane with Starbucks and looking at the decorated houses, gingerbread house decorating, presents and Christmas Eve dinner.

We also spent a few days with our cousins Danny & Gina. They arrived Friday afternoon and left around noon on Christmas Day.

Since Kenny had to go back home on the 24th we made Christmas Eve his Christmas. He opened his stocking and his presents.

I also made Pioneer Woman Cinnamon Rolls on Christmas Eve morning, OH MY GOSH! I am pretty sure I will never buy rolls from the can again! They pretty much melted in my mouth. I cut the recipe in half and still had enough for 4 pans so I ran a pan over to the Wallaces :)

We went to Christmas Eve service and then spent the evening drinking mulled wine and champagne {except for Gina as she cannot drink for two, *wink* *wink*}and eating a ton of appetizers while watching Elf and chatting.

Christmas morning started bright and early. We were so blessed this year and received so many wonderful gifts from our family and friends.

Scott really likes to take Christmas to the extreme. We decided this year we were not going to spend a lot of money and of course I stick to the plan. What does Scott do you ask?

He buys me this baby!

I was pretty much speechless!

He will be gone/graduating from OCS around my birthday & our anniversary, he said he knows he won't be able to buy me a gift so this covers all three.

Gina prepared a yummy breakfast of Swedish Christmas bread, fruit and bacon before they left and we all set out to try and find the lucky almond in each loaf. The story is whoever finds it in their piece of bread gets good fortune in 2012. I found the almond in both loaves so 2012 should be a great year!

I was really taken aback this year by how lucky and how blessed we are. I often times take so much for granted and then I see a tree fully of wrapped gifts for Scott and I and am reminded of how truly lucky we both are.

I am guest posting over at rouge & whimsy today. A quick and super cute gift idea kids and adults are sure to love!

I thought today I would share with everyone the Christmas card I sent out to family and friends. {Many of my friends that I keep in touch with on Facebook did not get the letter as they have read my many fb updates and don't need a reminder of what is going on in our lives, hehe}

It is hard to believe 2011 is coming to an end. I can remember January 1, 2011 so vividly. I was having brunch with my dear friend Liz, and we were discussing how horrible 2011 was going to be. Looking back I couldn’t have been more wrong. 2011 has brought so many blessings to Scott and I. I think most notable is Scott being selected to become a commissioned officer in the United States Navy. He will be leaving for Officer Candidate School {OCS} in January. A very close second would be going to Washington D.C. this summer and being honored as the Navy family of the year. The trip was beyond amazing, we toured the White House, the Capitol building and so many other monuments. We met so many other amazing military families; it was a blessing beyond words.

Scott has had many accomplishments this year, he graduated from the University of La Verne in May. He welcomed a promotion at work {different from his selection to OCS} and of course his selection to become a commissioned officer. To say that Scott keeps busy would be an understatement. The guy works nonstop. He is always working towards a new goal and trying to do the best he can to provide for us. I am so proud of everything he does and so happy to see all his hard work paying off.

This year has been a journey for me. I have really learned a lot about myself. I started a new job in January; I quickly realized it was not for me. In July I quit my job and started working on some dreams and passions of mine. I opened an etsy shop making jewelry, headbands and other fun baubles. I have been pursuing my writing a lot more and started writing for a few military related websites. I have really focused these last few months on strengthening my walk with the Lord. We will be embarking on a new adventure next year and I know I need the Lord to guide me.

It is crazy to think this spring I will begin packing up our house and starting a new Navy adventure. Scott and I are so excited but also a bit nervous.

this past weekend I had some girl time, which was much needed.

however in the midst of it all i may have said some not so favorable things about someone. this person has said some not so favorable things about things i am a part of but that does not give me the right to do the same.

i don't really have any interaction with his person, and while i know nothing will come of it all i still feel bad.

i really need to work on not judging people. i do not know their struggles so who am i to judge?

a wonderful thanksgiving {and how our turkey was run over!}

I can't believe Thanksgiving was almost a week ago! I figured I'd better get my turkey day recap up before December 1st!

I had so much fun this Thanksgiving. Even though it was just a small gathering it was perfect.

Scott and I started out the day with a 5 mile {round trip} run to the beach.

If you follow my personal fb page you know we had a bit of an issue with the turkey.

IT WAS RUN OVER!!

Here are the fb posts:

"Our turkey was run over...I'm not joking, I can't make this up...fact: our uncooked turkey was run over by a two door Honda civic"

"How our turkey was run over: rik was loading it in the Honda to bring it to our house. He didn't have the keys so he set it on the ground. They finished loading, got in the car and backed up. As they backed up they heard a weird noise. Seconds later Liz saw our turkey laying in the drive way. Luckily it was not run over by the tire and is still whole and able to be cooked. This is the tale of how Rik almost ruined our thanksgiving ;)"

It cracks me up still. When Rik told me I'm pretty sure my chin hit the floor, my face turned green and I just stood there in shock.

God has blessed us with so much this year:

We moved into a bigger house closer to our friends.

Scott advanced to First Class and then was selected for Officer Candidate School and will be commissioned as a Naval Officer next year!

We were awarded the Navy Family of the Year award and went to Washington DC.

I was able to quit my job this year and pursue a lot of my passions and dreams full time.

I was able to do a lot of traveling with friends and to see family: Chicago, Minnesota, Washington DC and Washington State.

There are many times when I get frustrated with the direction of our life and things not going according to my plan. I need to remind myself daily to be thankful for all of the amazing things we have and to know that everything happens in Gods time, not mine.

I am so thankful for a wonderful husband. I can't say it enough, he is the hardest working man I know. He spent the beginning of 2011, finishing up his bachelors degree, flying to Norfolk, VA every 4 weeks for a week of training for work, studied for a first class exam and completed his package for OCS. It is so amazing to say that everything he worked on at the beginning of the year was worth it. It is true, you get what you work for. He is so supportive of my dreams and puts up with my crazy bipolar nutty personality, that in itself is a full time job!

I am so thankful for my family, they have all migrated to different places in the US but I always know they are there for us. I so looking forwarding to seeing everyone together in February for Colt's 1st birthday!

The last 4 months have been beyond words. My relationship with God is growing like crazy. I am so grateful to the women who started the bible study at our base chapel. I wake up every day reminding myself that I need to give everything to God and when I do I can see that he takes care of me.

I thankful for the amazing women I have met through blogging and etsy. It is so amazing to meet women who encourage, support and inspire me every day. They truly are a blessing!

A night of exploring in Washington DC

Only 4 months after the trip and I am finally doing another Washington DC trip post.

The day of the luncheon was our last day of "planned" events. After the luncheon ended we were free to do what ever our hearts desired. Since my dad was still in town we decided to do a little site seeing.

The week we were in DC was a heat wave. I'm talking 116 degrees with the heat index.

We took the train into the city {after a pit stop in the pentagon 9/11 memorial, which was just so heart breaking to see}.

Soon after getting off the train I quickly realized I needed to 1. get out of the heat and 2. eat. We decided to eat at a pub type place. After dinner I told my dad and Scott that I wasn't really in the best of conditions to be walking around all night. 4 days of the crazy heat was starting to catch up with me.

My dad and Scott were totally okay with going back to the hotel, or so I thought. They said let's just walk a bit to see the White House at night and then we will head back. We saw the white house but we did not then go back. The walk turned into a walk all over the city hitting up many of the monuments! those guys tricked me big time! {totally glad they pushed on because we had so much that night}

We saw the White House, the Washington Monument, the WWII memorial the Lincoln Memorial and a few others.

I was pretty bummed the reflecting pool was under construction and therefore waterless and pretty much nothing special at the time.

My dad and I early in the evening {as funny as i look wearing my nike's with a dress I was so thankful to have worn tennies after all the walking we did that night!}

We were all super excited to see the Lincoln Memorial. My dad's favorite president is Abraham Lincoln so he was super stoked.

this statue was so massive.

We ended up walking around for about three hours and seeing so much of Washington DC. It was so much fun to get to explore the city with both the hubs and my dad. As we were ending the night we realized my dad hadn't bought any souvenirs and he left the next day at the crack of dawn. As we were walking towards a train station from the Lincoln memorial Scott spotted a little shop, when I say little I mean smaller than a 7-11. It was 8:45 and the place closed at 9pm. We tackled that place like pros! and of course bought some Gatorade's to quench our thirst. I'm pretty sure between the heat and 3 hours of walking I burned at minimum 500 calories.

Between the awards luncheon and exploring the city with my two favorite guys this was by far my favorite day of the whole trip.

It has always been tradition to spend Thanksgiving with family and friends. Since we are aren't able to be around family we feel blessed to be able to spend it with our friends who are very much like family to us.

Today marks 4 months since I quit my job.

It feels like it was yesterday but at the same time it feels like it was years ago.

I often find myself texting with my gal pals and saying "how in the world did I used to do all of this and have a full time job??"

The short answer is that I was a crazy person who took on too much and would have a melt down about every 2.5 weeks.

Those melt downs have been few and far between in the last 4 months.

I am pursuing dreams that I have had for a long time.

I am not doing anything like curing cancer or solving world peace, but I am trying to leave my footprints in this big ol'world.

I started a hand made business and will have sold my items at three handmade markets come December.

I am working on starting a website called Navy Wives Unite.

I have started attending a bible study that is rocking my world. God really knew what he was doing when he lead me to this group of amazing women.

Some days I struggle with my decision. I don't really have a job title I can tell people. I'm not a stay at home mom because I don't have a bebe. I don't even think people use the term housewife anymore. I don't really know a word to describe what I do, but I assure you I am not sitting at home eating bon-bons and watching people's court. I don't really know how to add to a conversation when I am with a group of people talking about their job.

Financially we have been really trying to pinch pennies. We knew the first few months would be a bit rough. Scott should be getting his E5 to E6 pay increase in December. By the Grace of God after I quit my job we finally got the news he was selected for OCS and that pay increase will come sometime next year. At that point we will be in a seriously much better financial place. Until then I keep away from places like the Mall, Target and Forever 21. We don't go to expensive dinners, we eat out far less than we used to. I get Starbucks far less than my little heart would like, but I am happy.

I am beyond happy with where I am in my life. I am trying to make my dreams become a reality. I am trying to make a small difference in this world. I am doing this because my husband, my friends and my family believe in me. They encourage me and remind me that I do make a difference.

There is still so much I want to do. I want to write. While I am no John Steinbeck, Elizabeth Gilbert or Emily Bronte I love to write. Writing Fiction is not in my future. But, I know when it comes to things like writing about the military from the wife and family perspective I am fully capable of doing this. I have been told many times that I have an energy about me. When I talk about things you can see my passion and it rubs off on others. I don't really know exactly what I do except for follow my heart. I speak from the heart and speak the truth. I can't be fake, I can't pretend to like or support something when I don't. That means if it comes out of my mouth I am a believer.

Yesterday I received an email from a friend. Here are a few lines of what she said:

"I just wanted to encourage you to keep pressing forward with your goals and don't be afraid to dream big! You have amazing potential! You seem to know how to network and build teams. You know how to marry your skills with your passions. You know how to make a mobile career. The Naval community needs you!"

This made my heart so happy. When others can see what I am trying to accomplish I know I am on the right path. I think her email will be printed and hung in my office as a constant reminder. It will remind me that even when I don't know exactly where I am going or what I am doing I am making a difference.

Are you following your dreams?

God knew where I needed to be on Sunday

This past week the hubs and I got into a bit of an argument. Where we were going to go to church this week. I am really having a strong desire to continue to go to the new church we tried out. It is giving me the connection with the Holy Spirit I need and have been craving. We were both being stubborn and it was left at fine, I'm going to the new church and you can go wherever you'd like. {maybe not the best approach but my heart is really calling me to this new church}.

Sunday morning we got up and went to the new church. Clearly God had planned on us going here the entire time. The message couldn't have been more for me unless the Pastor called me out by name and asked me to come up and sit with him. It hit home hard. I'm talking tears rolling down my cheeks hard.

I took so many notes in the margin of my bible it was a miracle my pen didn't run out of ink.

Here are a few of the things I wrote down as the Pastor was speaking:

"You are looking for help in the wrong place"
This is a message I keep seeing over and over. Since I started going to bible study a month ago I have realized I need to ALWAYS be looking to God for help.

"HE is the author and you are a PART of HIS story"
ummmm, hello! This hit me like a brick thrown at my head! I need to remind myself daily that God has a plan for me and it has been written long before me. I need constant reminders that I am not in control. {I have serious control issues ask the hubs or my parents!}

The pastor explained this so well, again, another ah ha moment. Much like how we want a Waiter at a restaurant to be attentive to us, our needs and making us happy we need to do that with the Lord. We need to living the Godly life he has planned for us. In doing this we will be waiting on him and this is what I need to strive to do more, Wait on God.

He ended the sermon talking about the story of Hannah and after the sermon we sang a worship song. I don't remember the song because I was so overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit. I closed my eyes, took it all in and let the tears fall. It was such an emotional sermon and really hit my heart, total bulls eye.

Clearly God had knew I needed to here this message.

Happy Monday Loves!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I sure did! It included pumpkin pie coffee, sweats, reading & being lazy with the hubs while it rained!!

We tried out a new church on Sunday {thanks to some wonderful recommendations from gals at my bible study} and OHMYLANTA it was AH.MAZ.ING! It was exactly what my heart has been craving, and the hubs it totally down to keep going. I can feel the Lord calling me to make so many changes in my life and having a husband who supports me makes it that much sweeter.

This past year has been so crazy, ups and downs, madness, goodness, blessings, and things that started out as thorns in my side but ended in blessings as well.

The message at church yesterday really hit home: GOD IS ENOUGH. He is all that you need. The pastor straight up said "your life sucks!" ha! so true, it isn't anything that I do that makes my life awesome, it is all God. I have to give it all up to him.

I have to remind myself daily that he already has my life planned out. I need not try and take matters in my own hands, because it is his hands that control EVERYTHING.

Whenever I think I have it all figured out he says, "hang on there girl, this isn't my plan". I am learning so much this year about patience and letting go and letting GOD.

Sometimes I find myself throwing my hands up in the air, looking towards the sky and yelling "WHY GOD, WHY???" Usually I hear him whispering to me, "because my child this is not my plan, this is not my plan."

There have been some things that I am working through that I haven't shared with everyone yet. It is something I am struggling with and don't yet feel ready to share. But the people who I have revealed my struggle to, they are amazing! They have taken my struggle to the Lord and prayed for me. I can feel the prayers working, I can feel my heart strengthening. I am beginning to see the purpose/reason of this struggle. I know with 100% certainty that I am only able to rise above it all because of the Lord.

sushi date with the hubs, always a good time <3

halloween marks 6 years since scott and i went out on our first date! <3

holiday cup, gingerbread latte and bible study, perfect wednesday morning <3

after living in our house on base for 8 months i finally found our curtains! <3

going to chili's for dinner and drinks with our amazing friends rik & liz <3

it really is the simple little things in life that mean so much to me and bring such joy to my heart.

God is Good.

thankful on paper {week 1: my friend liz}

This year I am linking up with Rachel of No.17 for thankful on paper 2011. This is the perfect time of year to tell the people in your life how thankful you are for them. Scott and I have so much to be thankful for this year and writing it all down and sharing with others who have been their along the way is the perfect way to close out this amazing year. I am beyond thankful for our friends Rik and Liz. They are such an amazing couple and are always helping us and the community in what ever way they can. We are so blessed to call them our friends and have them in our lives. They both helped me so much in getting ready for my first handmade market. They have watched our fur baby countless weekends as we ran around CA, they even dealt with her 5 am wake ups!

They were just as excited as we were when Scott was selected for OCS and insisted on taking us out to dinner {we have a constant argument of who pays when we all go out, we let them win this time because Liz said I was crazy if I thought we were going to pay, hehe}. From random Wednesday night drinks at home to crazy country singing at 1 am in our backyard they are truly some of the most amazing friends we have.

I am so grateful that God blessed us and put them in our lives.
